Changing Password on a TCNJ Un-encrypted Mac

If you received your TCNJ Mac, or your Mac was upgraded during of after the Spring 2019 semester, your Mac would be encrypted with the NoMAD software, please refer to this article about how to change your password.

NOTE: Do not change your password using System Preferences > Users. Use only the steps listed below

Be aware: this must be done while connected to the wired network

  1. Go to https://tims.tcnj.edu and follow the instructions to change your password
  2. Restart your Mac
  3. Log into your Mac using the NEW password
  4. You will get a dialog box with the title "The system was unable to unlock your login keychain." Click "Update Keychain Password" to continue
  5. You will get a second dialog box with the title "OSX wants to use the 'login' keychain."  Enter your PREVIOUS password
  6. Done

To determine if your Mac is encrypted, follow these steps:

  1. Open System Preferences
  2. Open the Security & Privacy preference pane
  3. Click on the "FileVault tab"
  4. IF the FileVault tab is there and openable, your Mac is encrypted. Otherwise, it is not encrypted
