Canon Multifunctional Printer (MFP) FAQ

During Q4 of 2024, after the latest renewal of our Canon contract, IT replaced all of the Canon Multifunctional Printers (MFP) on campus with a new and standardized model. To help navigate the transition of both these new devices and the benefits of our vendor contract, the following FAQ has been created.

Canon toners, waste bins, and staples (if applicable), ARE included in the Canon contract. Departments should not purchase these items through 3rd party vendors using their budget.

Question Answer
How do I order toner and accessories?

Toner is automatically ordered by the device itself contacting Canon when it's low  - Canon toners, waste bins, and staples (if applicable), ARE included in the Canon contract. Departments should not purchase these items through 3rd party vendors using their budget.

For Canon waste cartridges and staples, you will need to contact Canon’s National Services Dispatch at 800-355-1385 and select option 2. You will need to provide the following information:

  • Serial number of the Canon MFP (found under the copier lid of the machine)
  • Model number of the Canon MFP
  • Contact person name and phone number (that’d be you)
  • Location of your office (department, building and room)

Note that if you need paper for your unit, that should be ordered through your department’s office supply process.

How do I dispose of old toner cartridges and waste cartridges?
What should my department do if we still have supplies from our previous MFP? (Toner, staples, etc.) IT is returning all of our unused supplies that were provided through our previous contract. Just bring them down to the Help Desk in Green Hall room 6 and we will send them back with the other supplies.
What do I do if my Canon MFP needs service?

There are two ways you can submit a service request for Canon to come service your MFP

  • Via phone at 1-800-355-1385 and provide the serial number of your MFP
  • Scan the QR code located on the top of your MFP

The new printers provide a secure and cost effective solution for the College’s printing needs.  Should you have any questions on the delivery, features or installation of your new printer, please contact Michael Kuhn at Kuhnm@tcnj.edu
