How to Use Tap and Go Enabled Department Network Printers

The IT department has started to enable certain department network printers with a Tap and Go scanner to help you navigate their printing, copying, and scanning functions easier.

Printing

  1. Power On:
    • Ensure that the printer is powered on
    • If there are lights on the printer, but the screen is black, press the "Energy Saver" button to take it out of sleep mode
  2. Load Paper:
    • Open the paper tray and load the appropriate type and size of paper if it is empty
  3. Open the Document:
    • Open the document you want to print on your computer
  4. Print Settings:
    • In the print menu, select the correct printer as the target (all department network printers are named in the format p________)
    • If needed, adjust print settings such as page orientation, paper type, and quality
  5. Print:
    • Click the "Print" button to send job to printer
  6. Release:
    • Tap your ID or Phone (with mobile credentials) on the side of the console screen to release all your jobs

Copy

  1. Place Document:
    • Lift the scanner lid and place the document face down on the glass or use the document feeder if your printer has one
    • Line the document up with the red arrow in the corner of the glass
  2. Tap ID and Navigate to the Menu:
    • Tap your ID or Phone (with mobile credentials) on the side of the console screen
    • Press Next on the Touch Screen after tapping your ID
    • Press “Use Copier” on touch screen
  3. Set Copy Settings:
    • On the printer control panel, navigate to the copy function
    • Select the number of copies, color options, and any other relevant settings
  4. Start Copying:
    • Press the "Start" or "Copy" button (not on the touch screen) to begin the copying process

Scanning

  1. Place Document:
    • Lift the scanner lid and place the document face down on the glass or use the document feeder if your printer has one
    • Line the document up with the red arrow in the corner of the glass
  2. Tap ID and Navigate to the Menu:
    • Tap your ID or Phone (with mobile credentials) on the side of the console screen
    • Press Next on the Touch Screen after tapping your ID
    • Press “Use Copier” on touch screen

    • Press the Main Menu button (not on touch screen) to access the “scan to send” or “scan to store” features
  3. Select Scan Mode:
    • On the printer control panel, choose the scanning function
    • The top of the scanning menu will show a message saying "Specify the destinations," select the "Send to Myself" option followed by "Specify Destinations" to have it send to your email. This will return you to the main screen and the first message will have changed to "Ready to send"
    • Select the scan mode (color, black and white, etc.), file format (PDF, JPEG, etc.), and other settings, such as resolution, from the main screen
  4. Initiate Scan and Confirmation:
    • Press the "Start" or "Scan" button to start the scanning process
    • You will be asked to reconfirm the destination, just select Yes
    • Once the file has been scanned, you will be asked to "Start Sending"
  5. Retrieve Documents
    • Remember to take the physical copy of your document from the scanner or tray
    • The document will appear in your TCNJ Gmail inboxUploaded Image (Thumbnail)
