My Docking Station Won't Display my Laptop Screen to my Monitors. What do I do?

Sometimes when there is a sudden power surge/flicker on campus, docking stations will encounter an issue where they are not properly displaying on the external monitors that are connected to them.

Here is how you can resolve this issue:

  1. Disconnect the laptop from the docking station
    • This is through the USB-C connection you plug in every day when starting up your laptop
  2. Unplug the power supply from the back of the docking station
    • Below these instructions are pictures of some of the various docking stations we have around campus and how to identify the power supply:
  3. Leave the power supply unplugged for about 5 seconds before plugging it back in
  4. Reconnect the docking station to your laptop
Dell-brand docks with Dells will have the power supply plugged in on the far-left side Dell-brand docks with Macs will have the power supply plugged in on the far-right side
Note: Not all power supplies will have a white or blue light on them, but they will still be the only round cable

FOR MACS: Some docks require the DisplayLink Manager to run properly. Ensure that the application is running by going to the Finder > Applications or the Launchpad, and run the DisplayLink Manager
