How to Restrict Zoom Meetings to TCNJ Users Only

As of 4/10/2020, TCNJ has enabled an extra security measure for all of our Zoom users.

To prevent “Zoom-bombing” or people entering Zoom meetings with fake accounts, we are now giving meeting creators the ability to limit their Zoom meetings to only Zoom users logged into Zoom with TCNJ.edu accounts. (Zoom is available to all TCNJ faculty, staff, and students). This would ensure that only TCNJ users would be allowed into your meetings, and only under their real names.

Please note, this is an optional layer of security that you can elect to enable during the scheduling of your Zoom meetings. If you have meetings that will involve users from outside of the TCNJ community, than you should not enable this setting.

From the Zoom Web Portal:

  1. Navigate to https://tcnj.zoom.us, and select “Sign In”.
    1. If you haven’t already logged in, you should be directed to the TCNJ Single-SignOn screen to log in with your TCNJ username and password.
  2. Once you have logged in, under “Meetings” select “Schedule a New Meeting”, and schedule a meeting as you normally would.
  3. Near the bottom of the meeting scheduling options, there is a section called “Meeting Options”, where you will see a check box called “Only authenticated users can join”.
    1. Checking this box will enable a drop down menu, from which you can select an option to require Zoom authentication, or TCNJ Users Only.
    2. Selecting the TCNJ Users Only option will require anyone joining the meeting to log in to Zoom with their TCNJ Account.
    3. Selecting the other option will allow anyone with any Zoom account from any insitution or created on their own to join the meeting.

From iOS:

  1. When creating a meeting in the iOS app, the last choice is “Advanced Options.” When you expand that selection, there is an option available called “Allow Join Meeting”.
  2. Pressing on that option will allow you to select a user type (Everyone or Only Authenticated Users Can Join) and an authentication method (Zoom or TCNJ Users Only).

From the Windows Zoom Application:

  1. When scheduling a meeting, expand the “Advanced Options” drop-down at the bottom of the screen.
  2. Put a check mark next to the “Only authenticated users can join” option, and from that drop-down, select TCNJ Users only.
