What is Zoom and how do I use it?

Zoom vs. Webex: 7 Features to Compare & Consider

Zoom is a multi-platform web conferencing service that TCNJ now provides for free to staff, faculty, and students.

Zoom allows you to schedule meetings and send out calendar invites with information on how your meeting attendees can join in via their computer, phone, or mobile app.

Some of the main features of Zoom include:

  • Voice/video conferencing
  • Recording options for your conferences
  • Screen sharing
  • Managing participants
  • Google Calendar integration
  • Canvas integration

Before getting started with Zoom, go to tcnj.zoom.com, click "Sign In," and then log in using your TCNJ credentials to activate your Zoom account.

Once you are ready to get started with Zoom, you can refer to the following links from MTSS (Media & Technology Support Services) and ITS (Instructional Technology Services) on how to use Zoom to its full potential:

For information on how to add a Zoom meeting to a Google Calendar event, check out the document attached to this article on the right-hand side of the page.

April 2020 Update: Due to increased reportings of "Zoom Bombings," IT, ITS, and MTSS worked with Zoom about having a setting enabled where staff and faculty can set up Zoom meetings with an optional feature to only allow @tcnj.edu email addresses to join the call. Instructions on how to do so can be found on the MTSS website here.
