General precautions and requirements for Hot Work:a. All work must be conducted in a safe manner, compliant with federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and standards (including but not limited to OSHA and NFPA), as well as adhering to the Hot Work Permit.b. Impairments for smoke detectors, flame detectors, and similar near the work location have been approved, if required.c. Fire pump and sprinklers are in service and operable (i.e. control valve to water supply for sprinklers are open, etc.).d. Hot work equipment has been inspected and is in good operating condition.e. Inform and coordinate the work with other departments in/near the work area.f. Permit must be approved by the Responsible Person AND the Permit Authorizer, otherwise it is not valid.g. Permit (on paper) must be displayed at the work area.h. Permit is valid only for the specified: description of work, location, date, and expiration time.i. Permit is void if the conditions change or additional hazards arise (a new permit is needed).
ONLY for hot work conducted by a TCNJ employee...i.
